The Lord’s Prayer - Issue 24 - 28th August 2022
Continuing on the theme of the Bible, we can take the words from the Bible and rather than utilise them literally, we can utilise the meaning without thebeliefs. For instance, the Lord’s Prayer can still be useful to atheists.
Our Father in Heaven – instead of praying to a God, we can simply pray to our gratefulness for being, for our privelages, luck, genetics etc. Instead of acknowledging God’s creation, why not acknowledge your own good luck to be the person that reads these pages, that has the time to read these pages and ponder the meaning of life?
Hallowed be Thy Name – Instead of revering everything God does, revere the world around you. Find beauty in the ordinary: a man stopping to help an elderly lady across the road or a nurse who works unbelievably long hours to help others. You don’t have to revere God, just the world as it is.
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on Earth as it is in heaven – Instead of acting in accordance with God and trusting that he will do what’s right in good time, you should do what’s good in good time. Act in accordance with good, not God. Do the good that will be done in heaven on Earth. Do your utmost to bring this world a little closer to heaven and a littler further from hell. If everyone did this, in harmony, who knows what the world would be like? So you doing this is a good start.
Give us this day our daily bread – If you do not believe in God, you won’t be asking him for what you and your loved ones need. So figure it out yourself. Extrapolate what you need from what you want. What you need is to embrace more struggle and indulge in pleasure less. So pray that you can do that, pray that your loved ones, your community, your fellow humans can do the same. Pray that everyone figures out what they need rather than what they want.
And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us – This can be translated to taking responsibility for your actions and your part in negative situations. Do not hold others’ bad decisions against them, for they had little control over their situation. You think drug addicts wanted to be drug addicts? There’s a multitude of factors that contribute to someone becoming addicted to drugs so forgive them, empathise and help rather than judge. Forgive yourself for your own poor choices and move forward with them as a benchmark for what not to do in the future. Accept your limitations, vulnerabilities and insecurities and forgive yourself, then plough forward towards the good.
Lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil – The only thing worth altering here is who we are asking to lead us. If not God, then who? Ourselves. We must not be led by our unconscious temptations down the path of evil. We must not indulge, we must not cheat, steal, or any other form of immoral behaviour. We must walk the path of righteousness. We must act accordance with the good. That path is a struggle, it’s all uphill. However by climbing this path, we keep evil at bay. We keep the devil in us small and insignificant. When we entertain our temptations and indulge in pleasure, thedevil in our unconscious minds grows with significance, until chaos ensues. Addiction, divorce, affairs, heartache etc. Struggle yourself away from temptations and you edge closer to heaven and further from hell.
Accept your limitations, vulnerabilities and insecurities and forgive yourself, then plough forward towards the good
For thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory, for ever and ever – In other words, the world and all its power and glory is God’s always. In more words, do not take ownership over anyone or anything in this world, it’s not yours. This is true whether God exists or not. Do not gloat or boast your achievements and do not hold power over those beneath you, for there is no beneath you, only the world. So be grateful but do not take ownership as when you do, you can just as quickly lose everything. The pursuit of power is a never-ending pursuit as you never have power to begin with. That power you seek is an illusion because ownership is a myth. So be grateful for what you are given but don’t think you have power or ownership over anything.
Amen – Or “so be it” or “let it be so.” So everything we’ve just discussed, we must let it be so. Rather than asking God to make this or that happen, we must make it happen.
Keep On Struggling

Movie I Enjoyed - Free Guy
“In "Free Guy," a bank teller who discovers he is actually a background player in an open-world video game, decides to become the hero of his own story... one he rewrites himself.”
I enjoyed this film as it was an effective portrayal of a video game with plenty of laughs along the way.

Electrolyte Tablets I’m Enjoying
“Go Hydro is designed to ensure you are effectively hydrated to produce your most ideal performance. As an effervescent tablet that readily dissolves in plain water, it represents a highly practical approach (simply drop one tablet in your 500 ml water bottle) without unwanted sugar or calories.”
I use these for unwanted hangover symptoms to replenish electrolytes. I drink some before bed then more the next morning and find that they improve my condition.

Recipe I’m Making This Week - Anthony Bourdain’s Mac & Cheese
I’ve only made this recipe a few times as the ingredients list is considerable but it is definitely worth it. Using four different cheeses, it’s probably not a recipe to make regularly but it is delicious.
Check out the recipe below.
Psychoanalyst I’m Researching - Carl Jung
“C. G. Jung, son of a Swiss Reformed pastor, used his Christian background throughout his career to illuminate the psychological roots of all religions. Jung believed religion was a profound, psychological response to the unknown — both the inner self and the outer worlds — and he understood Christianity to be a profound meditation on the meaning of the life of Jesus of Nazareth within the context of Hebrew spirituality and the Biblical worldview.“
I’ve been reading how Jung viewed Christianity, traditions, symbols and theself with regards to psychiatry and I’m finding his ideas incredibly interesting.
