Single Review - Sorry

After the sensational single ‘Amsterdam’, Nothing But Thieves new single ‘Sorry’ was a highly anticipated release.

Nothing But Thieves

Nothing But Thieves

And it was certainly worth the wait. ‘Sorry’ is a slower more melodic song, however, it’s still catchy and emotive. It begins with effective minor chords and frontman Conor Mason’s eerie vocals and lyrics before we are introduced to the emotional harmonies of the song’s chorus. The drums are then brought in making it all the more catchy while the bass is definitely acknowledged, but it’s fairly quiet and simple throughout the song. The break is just astounding as it portrays Mason’s incredible vocal range and builds well to the final chorus with a fast and energetic drum fill.

Overall, it’s an honest, emotive and melodic rock song worthy of a listen. As a whole, Nothing But Thieves are a truthful and humble band. They accept that they’re not going to be the most popular and they know they are not the technically best rock band at the moment, but that makes them all the more successful as their catering to their more intimate fan base rather than their critics. Not all bands can pull off such a high anticipation for only their second album release, but I have faith that Nothing But Thieves are an exception.
