Take a Break - Issue 26 - 11th September 2022
This week’s newsletter article will be relatively short as I find myself with a decreasing amount of time to write and create so perhaps a break is needed. This will only be for this week however as I plan on getting back to writing most days soon.
It’s important to keep in mind that even God, in his infinite wisdom, took a break on the seventh day after creating the whole world to gaze upon his creation. So, you should do the same. You think you’re too good for breaks and resting, think again. If you’re not taking breaks and working (you think) a lot, you’re not being nearly as productive as you could be. What’s more, you’re not taking the time to stop and look around. Just as Ferris Bueller said:
Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it
If God needs a break after creating the entire world, you and I most certainly do as well.

Person I Seen Live - Jordan Peterson
I am more than aware of the many controversies that follow Jordan Peterson and I understand the hatred people feel towards him. I am definitely guilty of disliking people based on headlines and short video clips. However I, like many others, find a significant amount of value in what Peterson has to say surrounding religion, philosophy and life. Therefore I urge anyone to watch a full lecture or podcast episode before you decide that he is the scourge of society. If you maintain your opinion after this, then I commend you for attempting to view someone with more context.
One thing I would say however to people thinking of seeing Peterson live is that, in my experience, he seemed to speak about topics that he has done before, so I found that I was hearing repeated content. Although this would not stop me from seeing him again as the content itself was meaningful.

Song I’m Enjoying - Reborn by Colin Stetson
This song is from the soundtrack of the film Hereditary which I haven’t yet seen but the song is a beautiful build-up of emotion and tension. I think it’ll be a great song to run to.

Stand-Up I Enjoyed - What’s Wrong with People? - Sebastian Maniscalco
I enjoyed this comedy special as it’s simple and relatable comedy at its finest.

TV Show I Started - The Boys
I know I’m late to the party on this one but there’s simply too many shows to watch. However I finally watched the first episode and I’m hooked. The main storyline is “a group of vigilantes set out to take down corrupt superheroes who abuse their superpowers” (3). It’s a much more realistic representation of what the world would look like if superheroes existed complete with commercialisation, greed and corruption.
