Travel Log - Nottingham, England - Issue 47 - 5th January 2023

This newsletter will mainly centre around my recent trip down to Nottingham in which my partner and I caught up with family, ate some incredible food, drank some unique cocktails and saw a mesmerising show. What I will say about travelling anywhere new is that, wherever you go, make sure you leave some time to just sonder through the streets with no fixed schedule or intention other than taking in the city. We did this for a few hours and we managed to see some beautiful parts of the city and how the people of Nottingham live.

Sonder - The profound feeling of realizing that everyone, including strangers passing in the street, has a life as complex as one's own, which they are constantly living despite one's personal lack of awareness of it (1).

As mentioned we had some amazing food. Firstly, at The Kean’s Head, a small single-room pub with an impressive selection of beers and whiskies with brilliant Indian food, provided by Paajis. We also had Spanish tapas at Vida by Lorentes, in which we gorged ourselves on over ten dishes, each one better than the last. If you are ever visiting Nottingham, you’d struggle to eat better than the food served at these two.

For drinks, we enjoyed cocktails at The Pelican Club, which boasts original and delicious cocktails and smooth Jazz. I’d recommend the Mexspresso, which is an Espresso Martini with a Mexican twist.
Even though, these past few days were not difficult, I did push myself out of my comfort zone by sampling new foods and attempting to dance at a gig.

Keep On Struggling

Podcast I’m Enjoying - ZOE Science & Nutrition

“The world's top scientists explain the latest health, nutrition, and gut health research and translate it into practical advice to improve your health & weight” (4). I listened to this podcast for the entire 5-hour journey down to Nottingham which should tell you how interesting it is. This has been a very revelatory listen for me so far with episode topics ranging from chocolate and coffee to exercise and superfoods.

Listen to the show wherever you get your podcasts now.

Band I Seen Live - Florence & The Machine

This was the second time I have seen this band live and they were sensational once again. My partner and I travelled down to Nottingham for this show and Florence Welch (lead vocalist) was a joy to watch. She’s definitely one of thebest performers I have seen live. Her vocals were impeccable and the only word I could come up with to describe her movements is Shakespearean.

I’d recommend anyone to see this band live if they get the chance, just for thejoy of music.
